A major new getaway is heading to the Delhi NCR area. IHG Hotels & Resorts, a massive player in the global hospitality industry, recently signed a management agreement with Harisons Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd. Together, they are bringing a brand-new property to life: the Crowne Plaza Resort Gurgaon Sohna.
The new hotel will be located near Palwal, which sits at a very convenient 70-minute drive from the Delhi International Airport. It is officially scheduled to open its doors in the first quarter of 2029.
Built for Big Events and Relaxing Weekends.
This new destination is being designed with a few specific groups in mind. Because Sohna is so close to Delhi and neighboring states, the hotel aims to be a top choice for massive Indian weddings and grand social parties. It will also target companies looking for an easy place to host out-of-town business meetings and team-building events, as well as regular travelers who just want a quiet weekend away from the city traffic.
When it opens, the resort will offer 150 modern, comfortable rooms. Guests will have plenty of options when it is time to eat, as the property will feature four separate food and drink spots. These will include an all-day dining space, a specialty themed restaurant, a relaxed lobby lounge, and a bar.
To help guests unwind, the property will feature a health club, a spa, a swimming pool, and plenty of indoor and outdoor leisure spaces. For events, they are building massive banquet halls and meeting rooms so everything can be hosted under one roof.
What the Leaders Are Saying?
The executives behind the project are highly optimistic about the location. Sudeep Jain, who leads IHG’s business in South West Asia, explained that Sohna is a rapidly growing area. Because there is such a strong and steady demand for wedding venues and corporate events in the region, he believes the Crowne Plaza brand is the absolute perfect fit.
Similarly, Rajesh and Raman Gupta, the directors at Harisons Hotels & Resorts, shared their excitement about the collaboration. They noted that combining their own local vision with IHG's worldwide brand recognition and operating skills will help turn Palwal into a standout destination that appeals to both domestic and international tourists.
IHG's Growing Footprint in India.
This new resort is just one part of IHG’s aggressive growth plan in India. Right now, the company successfully operates 51 hotels across the country under six different brand names. These include well-known names like Six Senses, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express. They are not slowing down anytime soon, as they already have confirmed plans to open 89 more hotels in India over the next three to five years.
Globally, the Crowne Plaza brand alone is growing incredibly fast, with over 400 locations operating in major cities, suburbs, and airport hubs all over the world.
A Look at the Corporate Numbers.
